Initial takeaways from Alabama dropping to No. 10 in CFP Top 25

Alabama football dropped to No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings after losing to Oklahoma.

Here are some initial takeaways from the rankings:

No room for error

Alabama has to win out in the regular season to make the 12-team field. There is no room for error over the next two weeks. However, if Alabama was to make it to the SEC Championship, the impact of the result of that one is currently unknown with multiple factors likely impacting the effect the game will have on the playoff seeding.

Chaos Could Still Catapult Tide

There is still room for chaos. Alabama dropped multiple spots after losing to an Oklahoma team ranked No. 11 at the time. Teams with one loss or more ahead of Alabama could drop significantly with another loss. The Tide could also make a significant jump if it wins the SEC Championship.

SEC has shot to be well represented

After the Big Ten took home the last two National Championships, the SEC will likely have a shot at establishing its dominance over the sport once again with multiple teams in position to possibly make the playoffs and take home the title.
