This is what Kalen DeBoer had in mind when he recruited Isaiah Horton to Alabama over the offseason.

Heading into the Iron Bowl, Horton had been a solid addition for the Crimson Tide. The Miami transfer led Alabama in receiving during its win at Georgia before adding a few key scores in wins at Missouri and against Tennessee.

Over the weekend, Horton became an Iron Bowl legend.

The clutch receiver carried Alabama’s struggling offense, accounting for all three touchdowns in the Tide’s 27-20 win at Auburn. Horton recorded just 35 yards on his five catches. However, three of those came on either third or fourth down, and all but one resulted in a first down or touchdown. That included his decisive fourth-and-2 touchdown grab to put Alabama ahead for good with 3:54 to play.

“I told Isaiah a long time ago, when we got into the SEC games, that this is where the offense — the ball will find him in big moments,” DeBoer said after the game. “And we have so many guys that we rotate in — four or five guys that are really a part of the rotation most weeks, and sometimes it doesn’t end up going his way. But tonight, he found opportunities, and he took advantage of them.”

Here’s how Horton became a hero for Alabama against Auburn.
