BREAKING: Alabama football makes College Football Playoff in year 2 under Kalen DeBoer

Alabama football has made the College Football Playoff as the No. 9 seed in year two under Kalen DeBoer.

The Crimson Tide is 10-3 after losing to No. 3 Georgia in the SEC Championship. Alabama is in the playoff in large part due to the Crimson Tide’s strong resume. The Tide has wins over two teams in the College Football Playoff rankings, with wins over the Bulldogs and Vanderbilt.

Alabama also lost to two teams who are in the playoff in No. 3 Georgia and No. 8 Oklahoma. The Tide was also defeated by a 5-7 Florida State team to open the season.

No. 8 Oklahoma will host the Crimson Tide in the first round of the playoff on Dec. 19. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CST. The winner will play No. 1 Indiana in the second round in the Rose Bowl, per ON3’s Brett McMurphy.

Kalen DeBoer made a case for the Tide to make the playoff after the Tide lost to Georgia.

“If this game applies to and takes away from our resume, I don’t think that’s right,” DeBoer said. “I really don’t. I think the precedent been set, and I don’t know how you can go into a conference playoff game when you’re the number one seed and did all these things throughout the year, playing in this game against one of the top teams in the country as well, how that can hurt you and keep you out of the playoff, when again we’ve done what we’ve done all year.”
