Alabama football’s current wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard is transitioning into his role as Oregon State’s next head coach.
This means he will likely miss some time once again. This is something Kalen DeBoer has been preparing for, as he previously stated, both parties want to try to make things work as ‘long’ as they can.

Ryan Williams revealed both Tyler Hughes and Torrey Gill have stepped up as of late. Hughes was the New England Patriots’ wide receiver coach, but he is now an analyst for the Tide. Gill is an offensive analyst and is Alabama’s assistant wide receiver coach.
“Last week, he (Shephard) was around a little bit,” Williams said. “I don’t know if he’s gonna be around as much this week, but we love that he has this opportunity, and we got guys like coach Hughes stepping up already, and coach Torrey Gill. We got guys ready to go just like our players are.”
DeBoer is also stepping up. The former collegiate wide receiver is active in the position’s meetings.
“He was in a meeting this morning, and it’s just cool having a head coach back there, just serving some detail just because he played the position,” Williams told reporters.
Alabama is preparing to take on Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
