The University of Alabama’s Athletic Director Greg Byrne confirmed the university’s commitment to Kalen DeBoer on Sunday.
DeBoer had recently been linked to the Michigan job as a potential candidate. The Alabama head coach shut down all those rumors in a statement. Byrne confirmed the university’s commitment in a response to DeBoer’s statement.
“We are proud to have Coach DeBoer leading our football program at The University of Alabama,” Byrne posted to X. “He is an incredible coach and does an excellent job with the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him, and we look forward to taking the field Friday in the first round of the College Football Playoff.”
DeBoer and Alabama continue preparations to take on Oklahoma in the first round of the playoff on Dec. 19. Kickoff for the matchup is set for 7 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN.
