ESPN college football analyst and commentator, Jordan Rodgers feels Ty Simpson should return to school for another year instead of declaring for the NFL Draft.

Simpson did not announce his future plans after the Crimson Tide’s 2025-2026 season ended with a loss to Indiana in the Rose Bowl.

The defeat forced the former five-star to have to choose between staying at Alabama or declaring for the NFL Draft. Transferring to another school is also an option, but that would be a massive surprise.

Rodgers feels Simpson should return to college football to get better.

“He had the most gain and the most to lose, and he lost a lot,” Rodgers said. “He is not playing himself into the conversation for QB1, QB2 or the first round, especially with the way not just yesterday went but the last month or so went, and I would say not all of it is his fault. They can’t run the football… He should definitely come back to school. He is a really good player. His film is still fantastic at times, but there is a lot that needs to improve around him. He still needs to improve a lot.”

Simpson was considered a potential first-round pick at the midpoint of the college football season when he was considered a Heisman favorite. His draft stock appeared to take a hit as his play dropped off when the season progressed.

The Tennessee native’s decision will undoubtedly have a significant impact on how the Tide’s quarterback room looks next season.
