Alabama football recently announced the hire of Richard Owens as its new tight ends coach.
Owens was quick to reach out to the Crimson Tide’s verbal commit and 2027 tight end Colt Lumpris. The four-star is one of four 2027 recruits verbally committed to Alabama.
“His message was that I’m a huge priority still for them,” Lumpris said.” They think I’m a great player all around. I think he’s a good guy. I haven’t really talked to him a bunch, but I can feel the relationship building.”
Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide’s outside linebacker coach Christian Robinson visited Lumpris in New Jersey in January, and the four-star reconfirmed his commitment to Alabama after the visit.
“I am pretty locked in with Alabama,” Lumpris told Touchdown Alabama.
Lumpris has an official visit locked in with Alabama for weekend of May 29. It is the only official visit date he has announced.
The 6-foot-7, 235-pounder is an obvious mismatch when he lines up out wide with his length. Some of the most impressive parts of his game at this point, is his ability to catch the football as a big target and work after the catch while getting up the field.
The Alabama commit pulled in 44 receptions for 812 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior.
