Zaiden Jernigan made his way to the University of Alabama Sunday to watch the Crimson Tide kick off spring practice.
Jernigan is considered the No. 1 running back in the 2028 recruiting class by multiple recruiting outlets. The sophomore attends Louisville High School in Mississippi, and his offer list includes offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and others.
Alabama hosted Jernigan a few days after offering him.
“I loved it,” Jernigan said. “I had a good time there.”
Alabama’s running back Robert Gillespie was able to catch up with Jernigan during the sophomore’s visit.
“I talked to coach G,” Jernigan told Touchdown Alabama. “I loved how he coached and seeing how well the running backs practiced. I loved how fast-paced their practice was.”
Jernigan previously spoke highly of the Tide as a program.
“I love the program, seeing all of the players that have come through and seeing where the program is heading,” Jernigan said after earning an offer from Alabama. “I love everything about Alabama.”
The 2028 prospect finished the 2025 season with 1,806 all-purpose yards and 24 total touchdowns. He reports a 4.41 40-yard dash time, and it shows on the field when he explodes into the open field at 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds.
