Alabama football has placed itself in a better position with Ty Keys after his visit to Tuscaloosa last week.

Keys attends Poplarville High School in Poplarville, Mississippi. He garners a four-star rating from most recruiting sites as one of the best backs in the country. He now plans to officially visit Alabama.
The Crimson Tide earned an official visit thanks to a good visit last week and a connection between the Tide’s running back coach Robert Gillespie and his family.
“Coach Robert, he grew up around my family, and it’s just crazy,” Keys told Touchdown Alabama. “I know he got my back. He gonna lead me in the same direction.”
Miami appears to remain in the lead for Keys at the moment. Mario Cristobal has the Hurricanes in a great position for Keys.
“Miami, that’s just something about them,” Keys said. “Cristobal is something else. I mean, he coached under Nick Saban. He was an offensive lineman coach there. Now he’s a head coach. He’s that guy.”
Keys told Touchdown Alabama the Tide showed him during his visit how imperative it is he learns their playbook right away if he came to Tuscaloosa.
The four-star finished the 2025 season with 1,523 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns. He is a smooth and fluid runner of the football as one of the best athletes in the 2027 class.
Gillespie has helped Alabama land two running backs from Mississippi in recent years in AK Dear and Daniel Hill. Can he do it again?
