Tai Phillips is set to announce his commitment decision on Monday. This announcement will be made at a ceremony set to start at 6 p.m. ET and end at 8 p.m. ET.
Phillips is a 2027 running back prospect out of Irmo High School in South Carolina. He is set to choose between offers from Alabama, Florida State, North Carolina State and others.
The Crimson Tide has been recruiting the running back since offering him last summer. He earned an Alabama offer after camping in Tuscaloosa, and his offer came from the Tide’s running back coach Robert Gillespie.
“It definitely means the world to me,” Phillips told Touchdown Alabama after earning an offer from the Tide. “When you think of college football, Alabama is always the main topic. I’ve always envisioned myself running in crimson and white ever since I was a kid and now that I can make that a reality, it is surreal to me.”

Gillespie has continued to build his relationship with Phillips since then. The running back visited the Tide in April for a spring practice and announced plans to officially visit Alabama the next day. He described how strong his relationship was with Gillespie after the visit.
“He is like a mentor to me,” Phillips told Touchdown Alabama.
The development as a whole has been a part of the Tide’s push for Phillips to this point.
“They are telling me they have the ability to make a man out of me, on and off the field,” Phillips said.
Alabama has a commitment from Nigel Newkirk, but the Tide would love to add a very explosive option at running back like Phillips.
At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Phillips is a tenacious and explosive runner of the football who displays patience and vision while looking for space as he blocks develop. He reports a 4.26 40-yard dash time, and one can see flashes of his explosive speed when he presses the gas and explodes onto the open field after getting a carry.
