ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith dragged Kalen DeBoer on “First Take” ahead of the 2026 football season.
DeBoer is set to enter his third season as the Crimson Tide’s head coach this fall. He is coming off a season where he led the Tide to 11 wins, the College Football Playoff and a playoff victory. However, last season did not impress Smith, and he let it be known on Tuesday.
“Nobody should be under more pressure than Kalen DeBoer,” Smith said. “Alabama looked like trash. I can’t even say Alabama anymore the same way because of what that man has done to the program. Eight losses in two seasons, eight losses.”
Smith highlighted DeBoer as the coach with the most pressure on him when he presented when he was questioned about whether DeBoer or Lane Kiffin will enter the 2026 season with the most pressure.
DeBoer is 20-8 as the Tide’s head coach. His contract points to him being the head coach of the Crimson Tide for the foreseeable future after he signed a seven-year contract extension.
