Ryan Coleman-Williams asked if he’ll leave for NFL after this season

Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams represented the Crimson Tide at SEC Media Days, and the topic of the 2027 NFL Draft came up.

Coleman-Williams has two seasons under his belt already, and after the 2026 season, he has the option of declaring for the 2027 NFL Draft or returning to college football for another season. 

The star wide receiver stressed that he is focused on getting ready for this season. 

“Honestly for me, I’ve just been focusing on getting ready for fall camp if I’m being honest about it,” he said. “I get my degree this December, and that’s super exciting for me. So, really just focusing on this season and getting my degree, and after that, there will be decisions to be made, but I’m just excited for right now.”

Head coach Kalen DeBoer said Coleman-Williams is locked in ahead of the 2026 season, and that quote lines up with what the star wideout said after that.

It might be a little too early to talk about the 2027 NFL Draft, but Coleman-Williams is a name that comes up when thinking about the 2027 class.

There are plenty of eyeballs on Coleman-Williams in 2026 because of his playmaking ability, but his drop problem became a huge storyline last season. He led all Power Four pass catchers in drops in 2025. 

The Saraland native has 12 opportunities to prove the doubters wrong and bounce back from a somewhat down year, but Coleman-Williams wants to make sure that only his best will show in those games so he and the Crimson Tide can have more opportunities to play this season.

“Really just understanding that you only have so many opportunities,” Coleman-Williams said. “Lord willing, I will have more than 12 opportunities, but we have a guaranteed 12 in the regular season. Just thinking about that. The bigger picture, all the days in the offseason we have, maximizing those 12 opportunities and just thinking about that. Just want to be my best every single day. So, whenever those 12 opportunities come, only my best shows.” 

The star Alabama wideout is currently 19 years of age and will have his degree by the end of the 2026 fall semester. Based on what Coleman-Williams said at SEC Media Days, the way that this season goes will heavily impact his offseason decision.
