Alabama DB reveals critical lesson he learned last season that Tide will benefit from in 2026

Alabama defensive back Bray Hubbard was asked a question at SEC Media Days about what he learned about himself last season and what he wants to improve.

“I guess what I learned about myself was, I mean, not to sound cocky or anything, but I’m a great player,” Hubbard said. “But also, I’m a leader of this team and of this defense. So, I also got to bring my best every game. Obviously, the guys around me are watching me and watching the leaders on our team to see how we react to certain things, react to adversity. So, you know, I got to stay cool, calm, and collective whether we face adversity or whether things are at all-time high. I’m excited for this year, improve my game and take it to another level.”

In 2025, Hubbard tallied up 45 solo tackles, forced three fumbles, broke up eight passes and intercepted four passes. Hubbard’s 2025 season was stellar after the Florida State game. The reason people remember the Florida State game is because of the poor showing the Alabama defense had, and there was one viral clip posted of Hubbard jogging on a play that he could have made a tackle to prevent a touchdown.

The criticism lit a fire inside of the Alabama defensive back. Hubbard finished the season stronger than he started, and he ultimately decided to return to Alabama instead of turning pro.

Like he said at SEC Media Days, Hubbard is a veteran and a leader of this Alabama football team, and he’s ready to take his game to another level.

Hubbard is heading into what will be his final season with Alabama. He was named to the Preseason All-SEC First Team along Alabama corner Zabien Brown.
