University of Alabama Director of Content for NIL initiative arrested in human trafficking operation

Aaron Suttles was arrested as part of a human trafficking operation in Shelby County that led to 15 arrests, according to ABC 33/40. He was charged with soliciting prostitution, a misdemeanor

Suttles covered Alabama football for The Tuscaloosa News for more than four years, and he covered the Crimson Tide for The Athletic for more than five years, according to his LinkedIn profile. His last stop was as the Director of Content for Yea Alabama, “which is the official fan experience of Alabama Athletics and facilitates authentic name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities for Alabama student-athletes.”

Yea Alabama no longer has Suttles listed on their website, and he no longer Yea Alabama listed on his X account bio.

Clayton Smith, who is the commander of the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, released a statement after the arrests.

“We will not tolerate the victimization of vulnerable women here in Shelby County,” Smith said. “I believe that no woman wakes up each morning and chooses to sell their bodies because they just want to. There is always an underlying reason that they feel they have to do this to live and have no other option. We have a duty to protect them just like any other citizen. I want to thank the investigators for their passion and work in this operation.”
