Alabama, Oklahoma among schools standing out to Thompson 4-Star WR

Dedrick Kimbrough feels his recruitment is taking shape ahead of his junior season at Thompson High School.

Kimbrough is a 2028 four-star wide receiver, and he holds offers from an impressive list of Power Four programs. He is in contact with several staff members at those schools and plans to visit several of them this fall.

“I’m locked in with Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma and Texas A&M,” Kimbrough said when asked what schools he knows he will visit during the upcoming college football season.

Other schools may also get the four-star on campus this fall. Oklahoma, Miami, Florida, Alabama, and Notre Dame are among the schools standing out the most to Kimbrough at the moment. The Sooners are in position to be the lead team in the race to land the Thompson wide receiver.

“Oklahoma, I say they’re pretty close to that number one spot,” Kimbrough said. “I feel like they’ve been doing the best job as far as just talking to my family, being real and upfront with us. Ever since June 15th, they’ve been able to talk with us. They’ve just been kind of that front-runner.”

The Crimson Tide is still very much alive for Kimbrough. His current quarterback Trent Seaborn is committed to the Tide, and Alabama’s staff is staying in contact with the 2028 prospect and his family.

“They contact me a great deal,” Kimbrough told Touchdown Alabama. “They’re a hometown team. They’re right down the road, so they’re always going to be pretty high on my list. I feel like they do a good job with talking with me and my family, and that’s definitely one of the schools I’m going to get down to in the fall.”

The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder is a fluid route runner who has proven he can be explosive out of his release off the line of scrimmage. He flashes promise, and he is expected to be one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the 2028 recruiting class.
