Big Ten star wide receiver says he wants to have a year that rivals DeVonta Smith’s final year at Alabama

Jeremiah Smith continues to acknowledge the wide receiver lineage Alabama football has in its long and rich tradition.

The star Ohio State wide receiver now wants to have a year that rivals DeVonta Smith’s Heisman year at Alabama.

“I want year 3 to be, like, crazy,” Smith told Overtime. “Like, I want it to be like some DeVonta Smith type senior year season, something like that. That’s how I want my third year to be remembered. Something like that.”

Smith has a tall task on his hands trying to chase Smith’s Heisman-Trophy season.

The Louisiana native had 98 receptions for 1,511 yards and 17 receiving touchdowns en route to winning the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, the Walter Camp Award and the Biletnikoff Award during a shortened and delayed COVID-19 season.

Smith is coming off two outstanding years at Ohio State. He had 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns on 87 receptions last season. He played in all 13 games last year for the Buckeyes.
