Alabama safety says Tide’s defense is ‘ready’ to unleash on an offense

Alabama safety Bray Hubbard will remain as a focal point on the Crimson Tide’s defense once again in 2026.

Hubbard was nothing short of a superstar last season. The veteran was credited with 79 total tackles, two sacks and an SEC leading four interceptions, as Hubbard was named First-team All-SEC as a direct result for his efforts across 2025.

Hubbard recently took a moment to reveal his excitement for 2026 after his stellar junior campaign last year, as the safety claims the defensive unit as a whole will be ready to set the tone early on.

“Obviously we’ve been hitting our own offense for I don’t even know how long it’s been.” Hubbard said. “So we are ready to hit somebody else, and unleash on somebody else. We know just going out there and taking the ball away, we have to set the tone. I feel like this game can set us up really, really well, just how we set the tone, come out and execute. How we fly around, play fast, play physical and just take the ball away.”

Hubbard’s comments are an excellent sign prior to Alabama’s opening contest against ECU this weekend. The Pirates have a talented offense after a plethora of transfer portal additions this offseason, and ECU could ultimately serve as an excellent first test for the Crimson Tide defense moving forward.
