Alabama adds former UAB defensive lineman to 2026 roster

Alabama football added a former UAB defensive lineman to the roster in the month of September.

Defensive lineman Josh Underwood is now listed on the Crimson Tide’s website. Before UAB, Underwood played high school football at Fultondale High School.

Underwood entered the transfer portal in January, and the 6-foot-2, 315-pound sophomore has joined the Crimson Tide’s roster as a walk-on.

In 2025, Underwood was one of multiple players stabbed by UAB player Daniel Mincey later in the season, and he was hospitalized. He was stabbed while attempting to break up an altercation between Mincey and teammate JaSire Peterson.

The Crimson Tide lost defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman to a knee injury a few weeks ago, and the addition of Underwood adds more depth to Alabama’s defensive line.
