Former Alabama quarterback tells Ryan Coleman-Williams to ‘put some f****ing gloves on’

Alabama football’s star wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams dropped two passes early against East Carolina, but he rebounded quickly in the game and finished the matchup with 130 yards on five receptions.

Before the game, Coleman-Williams told media members he would not wear gloves during the 2026 season. This move was something former Alabama quarterback and National Champion AJ McCarron was not a fan of.

McCarron gave his thoughts on “The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty” while sharing that he feels the wide receiver is absolutely dangerous when the football is in his hand.

“Ryan’s still struggling,” McCarron said. “He’s such a body catcher that it worries me. The dude’s unbelievable with the ball in his hands. It’s all mental and then he’s in this thing of he’s not wearing gloves this year. They did some story on how he’s not gonna wear gloves. I’m like, Bullshit, put some f****ing gloves on. When he caught the ball, he’s unbelievable with the ball in his hands. It’s something they gotta fix because they’re going to need Ryan to play well.”

Coleman-Williams has an opportunity to be a consistent weapon for Keelon Russell this season if he is able to consistently catch the football. The more consistent the Alabama wide receiver is, the more dangerous Alabama will be on the offensive side of the football.

The Tide will take on Kentucky Saturday in Lexington.
