DeBoer tells what Alabama has to do to prevent another slow start

Kalen DeBoer shared what he feels the Alabama Crimson Tide has to do to avoid another slow start after the Tide had to overcome coming out flat against Florida State on Saturday.

Similar to Alabama’s road win over Kentucky, the Tide found themselves in a hole again early against Florida State. Fortunately for the Tide, they were able to climb out of the hole again and pick up their third win of the season.

DeBoer told reporters after the game that getting off to a fast start begins with the Tide players playing fast.

“Obviously we gave up some big plays defensively, and that is something where we did a good job last week,” DeBoer said. “It is coming in different ways. We got to finish some drives there early. We got some field goals, moved the ball down the field after the first drive. I feel like a lot of our practice, it is tailored around starting fast. We are always going to look at those things, figure out what we can always modify, but I just really feel strongly that our practice actually lends itself to starting fast with how we operate. We just go to execute better. I think a lot of it is you go through these moments, and you learn. Just cut it loose. There might be a mistake. There might be a look that you don’t see, and just go play hard. Go play fast. Again, I think sometimes our eyes were in the wrong spot, and they had some things that they threw at us too. I thought they executed at a high level and played hard. They had an off week last week to prepare for us as well.”

Alabama will look to get off to a running start in its next game against South Carolina.
