Why Alabama DC Kane Wommack is taking responsibility for FSU’s last score

Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is taking responsibility for the Crimson Tide’s defense giving up a late rushing touchdown against Florida State.

Ashton Daniels ran in a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to cut into the Crimson Tide’s lead. Wommack told reporters Monday what he should have done in that situation.

“We also minimized and eliminated his ability to scramble and create explosive place outside of the touchdown, the last touchdown in the red zone, which was my fault,” Wommack said. “I should put a spy on him in that situation where we were in that coverage because that is completely on me.”

Fortunately for Alabama, the score was the last time Florida State put points on the board. The Tide’s offense scored on final possession. Bray Hubbard pulled in the game-sealing interception when the Seminoles got the ball back.

Hubbard was one of several members of the Alabama football program not satisfied with the way the Tide’s defense performed on Saturday.

“Definitely, Bray Hubbard was not satisfied,” Pierre said. “It was a good team win. We brought each other up, and we just got to clean up some little things.”

Alabama will be back in action Saturday when the Tide takes on South Carolina.
