Keelon Russell comments on facing Tennessee without Ryan Coleman-Williams

Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams was sidelined during the Tide’s 26-10 loss to Tennessee on Saturday.

Alabama’s offense looked nothing short of flat in Coleman-Williams’ absence. Sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell was credited with 147 yards through the air with two interceptions and one fumble, and the offensive line was unable to protect Russell at any point in the contest.

Russell took a moment to comment on playing without Coleman-Williams following the loss, as the sophomore claims there are no excuses following his underwhelming performance.

“We’re playing ball. It’s not like we’re missing Jesus, and stuff like that. Just playing ball,” Russell said. “Not playing with him — we play with the same guys with practice. When Ryan isn’t in on one play, all the other guys are in.”

Russell and the Tide will look to bounce back against Texas A&M next weekend, but Coleman-Williams will likely remain sidelined against the Aggies as well. Alabama has now lost two consecutive SEC games to both Georgia and Tennessee, and the Tide hold a 3-2 record in conference play.
