Why Tennessee QB MacIntyre said he knew the Alabama defense would play ‘soft’

Tennessee quarterback Georgia MacIntyre said the Tennessee Vols knew the Alabama defense would play ‘soft’ on Saturday.

The quarterback dove into what he meant by that after the game.

“I thought I did a good job just operating within the offense, getting the ball out,” MacIntyre said. “We knew they were gonna play really soft on the outside. So by soft, I mean, like, deep, not really letting any shots on the top, and I felt like their game plan would just keep having to snap it again, snap it again, and make us sustain drives, and I feel like, especially in the second half, that’s what we did, kind of stopped kicking ourselves in the foot with penalties and small execution things from myself and other people.”

MacIntyre led the Vols to a 26-10 win over Alabama. The quarterback finished the game with 197 passing yards.
