Maryland fires former Alabama offensive coordinator

Maryland has fired Mike Locksley, according to multiple reports.

Locksley was in his eight season as the Terrapins’ head coach. He served as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator before taking the head coaching job at Maryland. He was the Tide’s offensive coordinator in 2018, and he won the Broyles Award, which is given annually to the best assistant coach in college football, during that season.

Alabama’s offense averaged 47.9 points a game with Locksley leading it. The unit set school season records in points scored, total offense, offensive touchdowns and passing yards. Alabama hired Locksley in 2016 as an offensive analyst. He was promoted to wide receiver coach in 2017.
