Former Alabama DB excited to take on Tide with confidence that teams are avoiding him

Dezz Ricks is looking forward to returning to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson this weekend.

Ricks is a senior defensive back for the Aggies and is a former Alabama defensive back. The Virginia native was a member of the Crimson Tide in 2023 after he signed with Alabama as a highly-rated defensive back. He only played in two games as a freshman for Alabama before transferring to Texas A&M.

“I’m excited,” Ricks told reporters when asked about his upcoming return to Tuscaloosa. “It’s been a while since I’ve been back, just excited to go play.”

Ricks had what some considered to be a rough showing against LSU earlier this season when he allowed five receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown. Outside of that game, the defensive back has shown signs of being a lockdown cornerback. He has been targeted 16 times this season and has allowed eight receptions for 152 yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

The defensive back was asked if he feels teams are starting to avoid him earlier this week.

“A little bit,” Ricks said.

Ricks will look to make things challenging for the Alabama offense this Saturday when he arrives back at his old stomping grounds in Tuscaloosa.
