Alabama football’s Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb feels the Crimson Tide must keep track of Princewill Umanmielen on Saturday when the Tide takes on LSU.

Umanmielen has gotten to opposing quarterbacks 8.5 times this season and has racked up 12 tackles for loss. Grubb feels the defensive end has the potential to make plays against Alabama’s rushing and passing attack this weekend.

“He’s an excellent football player, and I think he shows up,” Grubb said. “Sometimes you see guys that are maybe a little more singular facet, like maybe he’s more just against the run or the pass, but I think he’s a really well-rounded player. You hear about the sacks, but he certainly, you know, can be destructive in the run game as well. He’s got great block destruction, you know, on the edge and plays hard, plays physical. So I think he’s a guy; certainly, you know, we’re going to have to keep track of the whole day.”

Alabama will look to protect Keelon Russell against Umanmielen and the rest of the LSU defense on Saturday. The quarterback has been sacked 22 times this season.

The Tigers and the Crimson Tide get after it on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CST.
