Former Crimson Tide standout Rolando McClain has been impressive at Dallas Cowboys training camp so far. Despite being suspended for the first four game of the season, McClain has been putting in work this training camp.
McClain posted one of the highest scores out of all the linebackers on the Cowboys roster in the linebacker aptitude test. This exam done to examine the on-field intelligence and playbook knowledge of the linebackers on the roster.
Although the official score has yet to be released members of the Cowboys coaching staff have said the McClain scored around the same as fellow linebacker and former Pro-Bowler Sean Lee who scored a 39 out of 40.
McClain’s linebackers coach Matt Eberflus, says it is “off the charts.” Eberflus know how to evaluate talent, the former University of Toledo linebacker was coached by current Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Eberflus went on to say “I would go out and go talk to Nick [Saban] because I played for Nick and all that. So then I go out there and he tells me great things and [Crimson Tide defensive coordinator] Kirby [Smart] tells me great things about Rolando.
Despite a four game suspension to start the season the Cowboys are still expecting big things from the former Alabama standout this season. When it comes to on-field intelligence the Cowboys should be confident that they have a very smart and talented linebacker on their roster.
