Alabama has won back-to-back SEC Championships, but this victory came at a cost.
John Metchie, a junior wide receiver, suffered an injury in the first half. He did not return to the matchup as the Crimson Tide earned a stunning 41-24 upset win over Georgia. Metchie totaled six receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Alabama is down three running backs, and now Metchie is listed as “Out” per Nick Saban.
If the injury is serious, it would be a blow to Alabama’s offense. Metchie is one of two 1,000-yard receivers (1,045) for the Tide and has eight touchdowns. The talented Canadian has four 100-yard outings and is one of Bryce Young’s go-to targets.
Alabama has seen Ja’Corey Brooks, Traeshon Holden, and Slade Bolden step up.
The Tide will need contributions from other “Rydeouts,” if Metchie is lost for the College Football Playoff.
