ESPN’s Desmond Howard is the latest media pundit trending toward Tennessee for Saturday’s game.
He told Mike Greenberg on Get Up that Alabama will be beaten by Tennessee if Bryce Young does not play. Howard said the Crimson Tide’s offense is ‘not as dynamic’ without Young. The junior quarterback for Alabama suffered an AC joint sprain to his throwing shoulder versus Arkansas. He did not play against Texas A&M, but Young has practiced all week for Tennessee.
Coach Nick Saban has had Young a ‘pitch count,’ but he keeping things close to the vest. Jalen Milroe, Alabama’s backup quarterback, got his first career start against the Aggies. He tossed three touchdown passes, but he also had three turnovers.
The Tide cannot afford mistakes versus a confident Volunteers team. Howard believes the matchup at Neyland Stadium will be a shootout and he sees Hendon Hooker as the favorite in the Heisman Trophy race. He also states that Tennessee has one of the most explosive offenses in college football. The Vols are averaging 46.8 points a game and Hooker has yet to toss an interception.
Howard said ‘there is no way Alabama is walking out of Neyland Stadium with a victory if Young does not play.’
