Owens, who is an Alabama native and a former Eagles’ wide receiver, said Smith has impressed him dating back to his days at Alabama. The NFL Hall of Famer was in attendance when Smith caught the game-winning touchdown in the 2018 College Football Playoff national championship game.
“That right there, that was my first time seeing him ball out,” Owens said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I’ve admired this guy’s game for so long. He’s been excelling ever since. He’s obviously doing really great things in Philly, where the expectations are high … his game speaks for itself.”
Smith is coming off a strong season for the Eagles. He finished the year with 1,196 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns on 95 receptions.
