Jontae Gilbert announced his decommitment from the Ohio State University on Saturday.
Gilbert is considered a top 2025 target for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He attends Douglass High School in Georgia, and he is one of the nation’s top safety prospects.
The Crimson Tide offered Gilbert in March and have managed to continue to build their relationship with him by hosting him a couple of times. Gilbert visited Tuscaloosa last month, and Alabama showed a heavy interest in adding him to their program in the future.
“Their message was that I could come to a great school and get coached by one of the best defensive staffs in the country, get developed well and be a first-round draft pick,” said Gilbert.
At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Gilbert is a long defensive back, who plays a physical brand of football. Saban raved about his physicality and versatility when he offered him.
