Jalen Milroe put the college football world on notice last weekend as his performance against Middle Tennessee raised a few eyebrows from the doubters of the redshirt sophomore.
But former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young wasn’t one of them. In fact, Young wasn’t surprised at all by the success of his former teammate.
“J-Mil balled out,” Young said on Wednesday to members of the Carolina Panthers media. “I’ve been able to watch him grow and just continue to get better in all aspects from being on the field to off the field. His understanding of the game and of the offense, his command and then everything on the field he continues to grow. That’s my guy, that’s my brother, so I’m super excited for him. It was really great to see the success he has. He’s a great player, and it shows on the field. But he’s also a great person, great dude.

“Again, I’ve been able to see him progress behind the scenes for years now, and there’s nothing surprising about what he did, and I’m super excited for him.”
Milroe filled in for Young on two occasions in 2022 where he helped secure victories against Arkansas and Texas A&M.
Despite a bit of a mixed first impression last season, Milroe turned in a strong performance in the Crimson Tide’s victory over Middle Tennessee where he accounted for 242 total yards and five total touchdowns.
