Alabama quarterback Jacob Coker is not flashy, but he does not need to be in order to win. Leadership, toughness and passion are what drives quarterbacks to be great at Alabama.
The senior had all three attributes on display Saturday at Kyle Field against Texas A&M. When the Crimson Tide needed a spark, Coker provided it with his legs. He picked up a lot of tough yards and was not afraid to deal out some punishment on any Aggie in his way. Thirteen rushing yards will appear on his stat sheet; however, Coker totaled 30 yards on the ground.
Coker entered this week’s game with a 70.3 percent completion mark.
He connected on 76 percent of his throws, going 19 of 25 passing for 138 yards. A streak of road games without an interception continues for Coker through three trips. Regardless of not getting a touchdown, Coker guided Alabama’s offense in the absence of center Ryan Kelly (concussion) in the second half. The Crimson Tide defeated Texas A&M 41-23.
