Tua Tagovailoa rises in NFL Top 100

Dolphins' QB Tua Tagovailoa (#1) drops back to pass in last week's matchup against the Buffalo Bills

Tua Tagovailoa, who is fresh off of signing a massive 4-year $212.4 million contract extension with the Miami Dolphins last week, was ranked by his peers around the league as the No. 36 player in the NFL Top 100.

Tagovailoa jumped 46 spots on this year’s list after making his first appearance in 2023, ranking 82nd. This rise comes after a stellar 2024 campaign, where Tagovailoa started all 17 games, leading the league in passing with 4,624 yards, while being third in quarterback completion and fifth in passing touchdowns with 29. These stats were all career-highs for Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa ‘s teammates and opponents spoke on the Hawaii product’s leadership and what truly makes him special.

“His accuracy stands out from anything,” Tyreek Hill said. “He throws such a receiver-friendly pass, it’s like an extended handoff. He throws the ball through an open window, and that’s what makes him so good.”

Veteran Dolphins offensive tackle Terron Armstead also chimed in on his signal caller.

“Tua’s special,” Armstead said. “He’s a franchise guy. He’s an elite quarterback. He hasn’t even scratched the surface yet. He’s young. He’s going to be one of the best for a very long time.”

Former Alabama teammate, now opposing Denver Broncos defensive back Patrick Surtain II also showed respect to Tagovailoa.

“Tua Dimes, that’s what I call him,” Surtain said. “Tua makes every throw loos effortless. He makes every throw look easy.”

Tagovalioa now enters his fifth-season under center in the NFL.
