Immediate takeaways for Alabama versus Wisconsin at halftime

Alabama leads 21-3 over Wisconsin at halftime at Camp Randall Stadium in its first road test of the season.

Kadyn Proctor, a sophomore, returned at left tackle for the Crimson Tide after missing two games. Qua Russaw, a redshirt freshman, suffered an injury at Wolf linebacker. Hopefully, it is nothing serious for him as he left late in the second quarter.

Below are immediate takeaways from the first half.

1. Alabama’s OL is dominating the Badgers

Alabama’s offensive line has solved itself with Proctor and Elijah Pritchett starting.

The Crimson Tide has been able to the run the ball successfully and protect Jalen Milroe. Alabama’s front has helped the team convert four of seven third-down attempts while committing one penalty. 

2. Jalen Milroe is playing efficient football 

Jalen Milroe connected with his wide receivers in stride in the first half.

He found Ryan Williams for a 31-yard touchdown and hit Germie Bernard on a beautiful, 26-yard score. Milroe completed nine of 12 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He also has a game-high 50 yards rushing with a touchdown on eight carries.

3. Ryan Williams cannot be stopped 

Ryan Williams continues to amazing even up north.

The 17-year-old brought in his fourth touchdown catch of the season in first quarter. He brought in a 31-yard reception from Milroe to give the Tide a 7-3 lead over Wisconsin. Williams then caught a 47-yard pass to set up Milroe with a 26-yard scoring strike to Bernard to give Alabama a 21-3 lead at halftime. He has four catches for a game-high 78 yards and a score.

4. Alabama’s defense is holding serve

Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 defense held Wisconsin out of the end zone.

LT Overton leads the team with six tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. Alabama has forced two fumbles — one recovery — and four pass breakups. Malachi Moore forced the other fumble and freshman Zabien Brown recovered it.

The Crimson Tide knocked Tyler Van Dyke, Wisconsin’s starting quarterback, out the game in the first quarter.

Alabama allowed one conversion on third down in seven attempts for Wisconsin.
