Alabama WR coach JaMarcus Shephard on team 1-0 mentality: “This is not a democracy”

Alabama put on a show in their impressive home victory over Georgia, but while everyone is continuing to talk about Saturday night, the Tide are moving on to their next opportunity.

Alabama Co-Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach Jamarcus Shephard met with media after Wednesday’s practice and was asked about his groups ability to put their previous success behind them, ahead of their upcoming road matchup against Vanderbilt.

Shephard did not hold back, giving a passion response.

“They don’t have a choice,” Shephard said. “I hate to say this, and this may sound terrible, but this is not a democracy. We’re gonna move on to Vanderbilt. Nobody cares about what you did before, it is the epitome of going 1-0, which our head football coach (DeBoer) asks us every day. ‘Hey go 1-0, so there’s no democracy about going 1-0. That’s what we’re gonna do, go 1-0, and worry about the next opponent.”

Alabama will now look to continue their success in Nashville, Tennessee this weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
