What Alabama needs to do to beat Vanderbilt in the 2nd half

Alabama football is down to Vanderbilt at the halftime.

The Crimson Tide got off to a slow start against the Commodores Saturday on the road. Here is what Alabama needs to do to come back:

– Get off the field on 3rd Down on defense

* Vanderbilt is seven of nine on third downs, picking up 77 percent of their attempts. This has to change if Alabama wants to come back and win this one.

– Take Care of The Ball

* Alabama must protect the football. A Milroe interception gave Vanderbilt points in the first quarter along with an illegal number penalty on a Vanderbilt punt which could be look at as a turnover as well. It also resulted in a Commodore touchdown.

– Get its offense established

* Alabama’s offense only had two solid drive in the first half, and both resulted in touchdowns. The Tide’s other two drives resulted in an interception and punt. The Commodores dominated the time of possession 21:28 to 8:29.

– Stick with Vandy wideouts when Pavia escapes the pocket

* Diego Pavia is looking to throw when he escapes pressure. Alabama’s defensive backfield needs to make it a priority to stick with the Commodores wideouts when the Vanderbilt signal caller gets busy outside the pocket.
