Alabama starting guard is ‘in pain on daily basis’

There were a lot of questions and concerns raised following Alabama football’s loss to Vanderbilt in week six.

One of those questions was why starting right guard Jaeden Roberts was in and out of the game.

Alabama’s offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic provided some insight in regard to why Roberts was in and out of the lineup during Saturday’s contest against the Commodores.

“He is in pain on a daily basis,” Kapilovic said. “You don’t have to be a doctor to see that when you’re watching him move around. He’s playing through some things that I don’t know most people would. We know we’ve got to give him a series here and there just to kind of let his body feel a little better, take a breath and go.”

Roberts has started in each of the first five games of the season for the Crimson Tide at right guard.

Following the Wisconsin game, Roberts was added to the Outland Trophy Watch List. He is a key piece of the offensive line and will continue to be moving forward.
