How impactful can injured wide receiver’s return be for Alabama’s offense?

Alabama WR Kendrick Law (#1) celebrates after scoring a touchdown versus Western Kentucky in 2024 season opener.

Alabama’s offense has been missing a key piece in each of the last two games.

Junior wide receiver Kendrick Law has missed the last two games as a result of a lower-body injury that he suffered against Georgia.

On Wednesday evening, Law was listed as probable for this weekend’s matchup against Tennessee. While his numbers might suggest otherwise, Law is a vital piece of Alabama’s offense.

The native of Shreveport, Louisiana is a threat to score anytime that he touches the football. Prior to injury, Law recorded two receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown. In addition, he also had two carries for six yards.

It might seem far-fetched for some to think that Law is pivotal to the offense’s success, but it is simply the truth. One thing about Law is that he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Alabama comes away with a victory. It does not matter if he touches the football or not. He contributes on special teams, wide receiver, and occasionally at running back in certain formations.

One aspect of Law’s game that is overlooked is his ability to block on the perimeter for his teammates. Law is physical and does not shy away from contact. Moving forward, I would expect Law to be featured more in the offense and be used abundantly as a key blocker on screen plays and other plays designed to work on the perimeter. Whatever his role is, Law will willingly accept it and take pride in it. That is just the type of player that he is.

If Law is able to play this weekend against Tennessee, that would provide a huge boost for Alabama’s offense. He adds versatility to the offense and is a difficult player for opposing defenses to prepare for.
