Nick Saban responds to question about how long Kalen DeBoer will be at Alabama

Nick Saban was asked about how long Kalen DeBoer will be at Alabama on “the Pat McAfee Show” on Friday.

DeBoer took over for Saban as the Tide’s head coach in January. Alabama has won five games and suffered one defeat at the hands of Vanderbilt under DeBoer so far.

The question centered around how long modern coaches like DeBoer have to impress at a program like Alabama. Saban responded by pointing out the high expectations in Tuscaloosa.

“They don’t have a lot of patience at Alabama,” Saban said. “They have high expectations. You can’t get caught up in that. You got to focus on what you got to do to make the team play oas well as you can and don’t let any of that stuff affect you. That’s one of the things I think that allowed me to not lose my mind while I was there because we got criticized every time we lost a game. I don’t know how many times I heard Paul Finebaum say, ‘This is the beginning of the end’…You only have to lose one game with Paul.”

DeBoer and Alabama have their minds focused on a critical matchup with Tennessee this weekend.
