It was an up and down regular season for Alabama football in its first year under Kalen DeBoer, but the Crimson Tide still have a very slight chance to make the College Football Playoff.
Alabama kept those hopes alive by beating Auburn in the Iron Bowl 28-14 at home on Saturday. Kalen DeBoer made his case for the Tide to make the playoff after the game.
“Everyone’s aware of our schedule, and I don’t know the exact stats, but I know we beat four top 25 teams throughout the year, and I don’t know how many, if anyone’s done that,” DeBoer said. “When you talk about the schedule and what it is week to week, it’s just a grind, having to come back every week, that’s really the only conference that has to do that is ours. That’s what I would say. We won five of our last six, playing physical football. I think we’ve continued to excel in that area with what the game’s all about. I think those are two pretty big deals. We beat some high quality teams, teams that are still out there I believe playing some good ball themselves and then just winning five the last six in the back half of the season.”
The College Football Playoff committee will foreshadow the Tide’s fate Tuesday when the rankings are revealed.
