CBS football analyst says ‘don’t be surprised’ if Alabama still make playoff

CBS college football analyst, Rick Neuheisel sent out a warning to college football on Saturday night as the Alabama vs. SMU playoff debate heated up.

Alabama is currently ranked No. 11 ahead of the final playoff rankings. SMU is at 11-2 after losing 34-31 to Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Neuheisel feels the Mustangs deserve to be in over Alabama but feels it should not be surprised if the Crimson Tide get a nod.

“No argument that they deserve to be in,” Neuheisel said. “But here’s what I’ll tell you that committee is going to say there are four Big Ten teams going in. We know the strength of the SEC. Alabama is the fourth SEC team. Do not be shocked if Roll Tide comes out of their mouth.”

Fellow analyst, Brian Jones echoed Neuheisel’s statement. 

“Bama will probably get in there ahead of them because of brand name,” Jones said.

The College Football Playoff selections will be announce Sunday at 11 a.m. CST live on ESPN.
