5 areas where Alabama underachieved in first year under Kalen DeBoer

Alabama football did not have the season it wanted this year, but now it’s time to turn the page.

The Crimson Tide concluded the regular season with a 9-3 record in the first year of the Kalen DeBoer era. It is headed to the ReliaQuest Bowl to battle Michigan on New Year’s Eve in a rematch from the Rose Bowl game last season. Alabama would have loved to be in the College Football Playoff, but it did not handle its business to get in.

Coach DeBoer remains viewed as the right hire to lead the Tide into the post Nick Saban era; however, we have to look at this season as a disappointment.

Below are five areas where Alabama underachieved under DeBoer.

1. Failure to make 12-team CFP

Alabama not making the CFP in the first year where it is 12 teams is a massive underachievement.
