According to The Athletic, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson vetoed a trade for former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy because of his Madden rating. Apparently, it was not high enough for Johnson to follow through with the trade.
On the bright side, Jeudy might be better off not suiting up for Johnson and the Jets. After being traded from the Denver Broncos to the Cleveland Browns, Jeudy has seen an uptick in opportunities. He is currently the Browns number 1 wide receiver. In 2024, Jeudy has hauled in 70 receptions for 1,052 yards and four touchdowns this season.
He is progressing and become a more reliable target for Browns quarterback Jameis Winston. The two have developed a connection that could go a long ways in helping the Browns achieve success down the road.
It is simply interesting to hear that an owner that has had minimal success over the last 24 years passes up on one of the league’s more promising pass-catchers simply due to a rating on a video game. Jeudy has had more success this season than he had in four seasons with the Broncos. Needless to say, the Jets are the ones that are unable to reap the benefits. Jeudy certainly has in C-Town this season.
