Why 4-Star DB Zyan Gibson committed to Alabama

Zyan Gibson chose Alabama over Auburn, Miami and Tennessee on Tuesday.

Gibson is one of the nation’s best 2026 cornerback prospects. He is a consensus four-star recruit with an impressive offer list next to his name.

The Crimson Tide were able to pull in a commitment from the four-star by building a relationship with him and his family through consistent contact.

“He grew up an Alabama fan, and the new staff they have with Coach DeBoer, we just built a great relationship with, GM Courtney Morgan also Coach Mo, (Maurice Linguist) the cornerback coach coach,” Gibson’s dad Michael told Touchdown Alabama. “Coach (Jatavis) Sanders played a big part in the recruitment. They just welcomed us with open arms…He fell in love with it, and he also loved they are playing freshman.”

Michael Gibson played his college football at Ole Miss. Although his son does not plan on being a Rebel at the moment, he is happy to watch him compete in the SEC.

“I am a big SEC guy,” said Gibson. “I grew up an Alabama fan, but I played for Ole Miss.”

Zyan becomes Alabama’s only 2026 commit.
