Kalen DeBoer reacts to Damon Payne and Justice Haynes transferring to Michigan

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer on the practice field during 2024 Crimson Tide fall camp practice.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer spoke with the media again on Monday morning. He spoke about two of Alabama’s transfers — Justice Haynes and Damon Payne. Both of which are headed to Michigan to continue their football careers.

“I’m always going to wish the guys in our program the best. Those are two really solid young men.”

Both were impactful players for the Crimson Tide during the 2024 season. Haynes was Alabama’s second leading rusher this season. The Georgia native had 79 carries for 448 yards and seven touchdowns. Payne was more of a rotational defensive lineman. He recorded 14 tackles and one fumble recovery this season.

Alabama has lost a plethora of key players to the transfer portal in the past few weeks. It will be interesting to see which players step up in their absence and play a key role in the bowl game against Michigan.
