Alabama defensive lineman to trend to be difference maker during 2025 season

Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton made the decision to return to Tuscaloosa instead of turning pro following the ReliaQuest Bowl. His impact could be one of great importance for the Crimson Tide defense in 2025.

Overton transferred to Alabama last offseason after spending two seasons at Texas A&M. The Alabama native had a strong start to the season in 2024. He was consistently creating pressure and making things difficult on opposing offensive tackles. As the season progressed, Overton slowly became less impactful and less noticeable.

He will need to have a more complete year in 2025 for the Crimson Tide. After all, Overton has proven that he can wreak havoc up front. He seems to always be in the backfield but needs to do a better job of finishing plays. In particular, he will need to record more sacks. Alabama lacked a pass rush toward the end of the season when veteran linebacker Que Robinson went down with an injury.

Overton will be called on to elevate his game with Robinson and several other key defenders turning pro. In 2024, Overton tallied 42 tackles and two sacks. In 2025, he will likely need to record at least five to six sacks. He will not only help the team but himself as well.

I expect Overton to do so and solidify himself as one of the more premier pass rushers on the 2026 draft class. His impact will be one to monitor closely over the course of the 2025 season.
