How Alabama punter James Burnip plans to separate himself at Senior Bowl

Alabama punter, James Burnip is looking to separate himself from all of the other punters at the upcoming 2025 Reese Senior Bowl.

Burnip has been one of the more consistent punters in college football over the past several seasons.

The 6-foot-6 Australian punter averaged 45.4 yards per punt on 52 total punts during his 2024 senior campaign. This net yardage ranked Burnip fifth in the SEC and 13th overall in all of college football.

Burnip was asked what he is hoping to prove to NFL general managers, coaching staffs and scouts in attendance at the annual college football all-star games when interviewed by Draft Network writer, Justin Melo.

“That I’m somebody they should draft to be their next punter,” Burnip said. “I can put the ball in the air for a long time, and I can punt it as far as they need me to. I can be a positional punter and place the ball inside the 20-yard line. I want to use this opportunity at the Senior Bowl to separate myself from the other punters in this draft class.”

Burnip will now have the opportunity to showcase his skillset in a couple of weeks when he travels to Mobile, Alabama to compete in the 76th Senior Bowl.
