Former Alabama defensive lineman D.J. Dale signed with the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League on Saturday. Dale was most recently a part of the Buffalo Bills practice squad in 2023.

Dale played at Alabama from 2019-2022. He played in 48 games for the Crimson Tide. Dale recorded 74 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. The Alabama native was a key player up front for Alabama in each of four seasons at The Capstone. Following the conclusion of his senior season, Dale decided to forgo using his final year which was a COVID year. He went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Bills.

Dale spent roughly three months with the Bills organization before being waived. Now, he will look to pursue a professional career in a different league. It will be interesting to see how Dale performs with his new team. This could be an opportunity for him to prove himself and eventually return to the NFL.
