Alabama is the latest program to offer Ben’Jarvius Shumaker.
Shumaker is a four-star defensive lineman prospect out of Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. He is currently a sophomore but is thought of as one of the best defensive lineman prospects in his class. His offer list includes offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State and now Alabama.
His newest offer from the Tide is one Shumaker is grateful to have.
“It really means a lot because I used to always watch them on television and now they are offering me and wanting me to come play for them,” Shumaker told Touchdown Alabama. “I just thank god for the opportunity.”
The sophomore went on to say some great things about the Tide and how he sees them as a program.
“From the outside looking in, it looks like a great program,” said Shumaker. ” I know a lot of players in the NFL that came from Alabama, which means they are doing something good.”
The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder was impressive for Choctaw County as a sophomore while only playing in five full four-quarter games. He finished the season with 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 Sacks two fumble recoveries, one touchdown and three pass breakups. He flashed an ability to be dominant with his strength to go along with his ability to have active hands and work around blocks.
